The Tabernacle Prayer
Part 2: The Holy Place

The next place we enter is the Holy Place. This was the outer chamber before the Holy of Holies. This housed the golden candlestick, the table of shewbread, and the altar of incense. The entrance was marked by five pillars that held up the outer veil. This is where we pick up our prayer.
The Outer Veil: Isaiah 9:6
I approach these five pillars and each of these pillars represent who God is: 1) Wonderful, 2) Counselor, 3) The Mighty God, 4) The Everlasting Father, and 5) The Prince of Peace.
I pray God never let me forget the wonder of who You are. Never let me forget that feeling of awe every time I stand in Your presence. I pray that You remind me that you are my counsel. Never let me take the counsel of the wicked. Let me only take Your counsel, Oh God. Remind me that You are the Mighty God. There is no one like You! Thank you for being my Father. Thank you for loving me with a Father’s love. Thank you for giving me peace even when I have no answers. Thank you for commanding peace into my spirit.
The Golden Candlestick: Matthew 5:14, John 8:12, John 9:5
The outer court was lit by sunlight. There was no covering. Once you enter the Holy Place, the only light was given by the golden candlestick. This was essentially a large minora. It was hollow and filled with oil. The priest would enter twice a day and clean the wicks to ensure there was no smoke, only a pure flame. Where did the priest get the flame from? He took the flame from the altar. Again, the altar of sacrifice is the foundation of a strong prayer life! There were 7 wicks which represent the seven churches in the book of Revelations. The purpose of the church is to be the light in the darkness. This is how we pray the golden candlestick.
Jesus, the Word says that while You were in the world, You were the light of the world and now that light is to shine from me. God let me not be ashamed to shine the light of Your presence every where I go. Let me walk into places and change the atmosphere by the holy fire of God in my life.
The Table of Shewbread: John 6:5, Matthew 14:13-21, Ephesians 4:11
The table of shewbread held twelve loaves of bread for the priests to eat. This would be refreshed every week. This part of prayer, I like to dedicate to praying for ministry. The bread always represents the Word of God and the table holds the bread. The table would then represent to me the ministries who’s responsibility it is to distribute/ preach the Word of God. This would mean praying for the five-fold ministry to be activated. This is how I pray for ministry.
God, I pray that there be no shackles around the feet of ministry across the world today. I pray for every Apostle, Prophet, Evangelist, Pastor, and Teacher to boldly proclaim the Gospel of Jesus Christ. I pray against any spiritual attack that would come against them. I pray their eyes be open to the snares of the enemy. God, as You provided sustaining bread for the priests of old, sustain them. Bless their marriages, families, finances, ministries. I cast down every lie that is whispered in their ears. I cast down every seducing spirit. Set them on fire right now.
The Altar of Incense: Ezekiel 22:30, Exodus 32:32, Romans 8:26, Ephesians 6:18
The last piece of furniture we come to in the Holy Place is the Altar of Incense. There were special spices that were mixed together and burned on this altar. It rose as a sweet savor to the Lord. This is where I plead or intercede on behalf of myself, my family, my church, the sick, the lost, the nation. This is an intimate time with the Lord. I tend to stay here much like the parable of the unjust judge. I consistently make my requests known to the Lord. I will not take time to lay out my personal prayers here. We would be here all night!
Next week, we will be wrapping up this series with The Holy of Holies. This is has been such a powerful time to share with you. I encourage you to write down these steps and begin implementing them in your own personal prayer time!
Until The Whole World Hears,
Ryan Richmond
